This design-build project on the Interstate 94 corridor between Maple Grove and Rogers added useable lanes to eleviate heavy traffic onto existing infrastructure as a way to reduce current traffic impacts while also planning for the future expansion of the area.

C. S. McCrossan partnered with designer Michael Baker International to design and build this high-profile project. This award-winning project spanned 8 miles in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis, and added 16 new lane miles (8 in each direction) to an already overworked section of our state’s interstate system. The existing lanes received 10” of new concrete pavement, along with the new lanes added. 4 new noise walls were constructed along the corridor to help with traffic noise for nearby residents and businesses, as well as upgraded safety features such as new concrete median barrier and new high-tension cable guardrail. 400,000 cubic yards of grading material was moved, 66,000 feet of storm sewer and drainage piping was installed, along with the placement of 50,000 tons of bituminous pavement. This project was completed in 2021.
